Nine Months and Waiting: ATEST National Call on Status of TVPRA

June 17, 2012

Nine months have passed since the reauthorization to the 2008 Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) expired. The programs authorized by the TVPA, which are crucial to the work to end modern-day slavery and human trafficking in the United States and abroad, continue to be jeopardized by Congress's inaction.

The Alliance to End Slavery and Trafficking (ATEST) was joined by 115 + civil society, government, and faith-based organizations on a national call [listen below] on June 18th to discuss the importance of passing S. 1301, the "Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2011," as reported out of the Senate Judiciary Committee in October 2011. The bill is fully bipartisan with 45 co-sponsors as of the date of this call, and contains provisions that are important to be authorized.

Join ATEST in advocating for the passage of this bill by calling your Senator to co-sponsor S. 1301 today. For a list of current co-sponsors, please click here.
